Early Blight

First symptoms consist of small spots on older leaves. Eventually, as the spots become larger, characteristic concentric rings will appear on the lesions, giving them a "target" look. Early blight is caused by the fungus Alternaria solani. Nitrogen and phosphorous deficiency can increase susceptibility to early blight, so fertilizing will help prevent the disease. Allowing plants to dry before nightfall can also help prevent the disease.
