Rectangular Planter Well Reservoir
This self watering reservoir allows you to enjoy the beautifully lush plants you've always wanted but without the hassles and time commitments of most window boxes and conventional gardens. Refill it once and enjoy up to two weeks of automatic watering without having to lift a finger. This reservoir can be placed in a wide range of planters. It keeps a consistent moisture level within the soil, providing ample nourishment and moisture to the roots at all times, even if you haven't watered them that day. It also helps prevent root rot and other damage related to rainfall, with no risk of overwatering. It's an ideal solution for those who travel frequently, for individuals who don't have time for daily watering, for beginning gardeners who are just getting the hang of growing plants, or for anyone who wants to spend more time enjoying their plants and less time watering them. Instead of watering over the top of the soil, the fill tube allows you to supply water directly to plant roots, where they draw it up through the soil through capillary action, or wicking. This further hydrates the grow medium or soil for the plant roots to drink from.
Reservoirs are easy to install... simply place the reservoir at the bottom of the planter, with a thin layer of gravel for drainage when it rains or the planter gets over-watered. The water in the reservoir will travel roughly 9-12" in all directions, so be sure and put the reservoir roughly 2-10 inches from the plants roots. Insert fill tube. Some people put PVC adhesive on the tube to ensure it stays in place. Cover directly with good fiberous soil. Plant your plants, add water to the reservoir. Top water throroughly to get the reservoir and plants started. Top water a few more times until roots become established and the roots begin to wick the water up naturally. Once established, fill reservoir via the fill tube as needed depending on weather. You will want reservoirs everywhere when you see the excellent results of watering plants at the right time in the right amount!
